    Description

    Prerequisites: CHEM 2401-2402
A survey of chemical properties of Main Group elements and the Transition Metasl. Concepts developed in physical chemistry, such as bonding theory and thermodynamics are applied to the understanding of these properties. Coordination chemistry of the Transition Metals is emphasized and recent advances in this and other fields are discussed. Laboratory includes synthesis and characterization of a range or coordination compounds. Three housrs of lecture and three hours of laboratory per week.
