Description

An introductory methods course designed for Early Childhood Education majors, focusing on developmentally appropriate strategies for teaching mathematics in PreK–Grade 6. Aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Texas Education Agency (TEA) educator standards, the course emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and equitable instructional practices. Topics include number sense, operations, algebraic thinking, set theory, proportional reasoning, measurement, and geometry. Candidates will explore the use of manipulatives, assessment tools, and digital resources to support diverse learners and meet state teaching competencies.
