    Description

    Prerequisite: ENGL 2332
    A study of the major authors of the Victorian Era and their respective works including Arnold, Carlyle, Maxley, Newman and others. Topics will include the violent clash between evolutionary theory and traditional religious faith, the rise of hero worship of force, the emergence of the "isms" such as capitalism, socialism, mercantilism, and communism and their influence on philosphical, scientific, and religious currents.
